A prestigious law firm in Surrey is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Property Litigation Solicitor to join its Litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled litigator with substantial experience in landlord and tenant disputes, property, and boundary issues. The Role:
As a Senior Property Litigation Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a diverse and challenging caseload, working across both commercial and residential property disputes. You will deal with high-net-worth cases, providing expert legal advice to clients, and will collaborate with colleagues and external parties to achieve favourable outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex property litigation, providing you with significant exposure to a wide range of legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload with a focus on property litigation, as well as mainstream contract disputes as required.
- Handle commercial and landlord and tenant litigation cases, including lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and dilapidations claims.
- Manage residential possession proceedings, with a strong understanding of housing law and statutory regulations.
- Handle disputes between adjoining owners, including trespass, nuisance claims, boundary disputes, and the enforcement of restrictive covenants, with a focus on preserving good relationships between neighbours.
- Manage disputes between developers and those affected by development plans.
- Advise on long residential leases, including lease extensions, freehold enfranchisements, rights of first refusal, and setting up right-to-manage companies.
- Collaborate closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to achieve favourable outcomes, particularly supporting the commercial and residential property teams.
- Stay abreast of changes in property and contract law, ensuring accurate and up-to-date legal advice to clients.
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive with a background in property litigation law.
- Proven experience (5+ years PQE) in property litigation and commercial contract disputes.
- Essential experience in landlord and tenant disputes, both commercial and residential.
- Experience in handling disputes between adjoining owners is essential.
- Experience in residential long lease work (lease extensions, freehold enfranchisements, etc.) is highly desirable, although full training and supervision can be provided in this area.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic legal team.
