Network Installation Engineer - Global Programme
London - initial 5 months + extensions
Must have active Security Clearance and be willing to undertake DV.
£400 p/d (Outside IR35)

The Network Installation Engineer is responsible for supporting the onsite installation of network services at various sites in the UK with occasional worldwide travel. This role reports to the Deployment Lead and involves hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, and collaboration within a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate existing site technical configurations and information.
  • Install network equipment onsite, including racking, stacking, and running network cables as per the site design.
  • Re-cable the network rack to ensure an optimal and organised installation.
  • Maintain a clean installation area and dispose of any installation-related waste.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues when necessary.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Programme plan under the direction of the Deployment Lead.
  • Participate in cross-functional workshops as required.
  • Review and validate site designs.
  • Provide technical network advice to the Programme and supplier teams.
  • Communicate with site contacts to provide regular updates about their transition.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Programme team to ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CCNA certification is required.
  • SC clearance and willingness to go through the DV clearance process.
  • Proven experience transitioning large, complex IT projects within the UK public sector.
  • Hands-on experience installing network equipment in both data centres and smaller server rooms.
  • Strong skills in fault finding and troubleshooting network hardware devices.
  • Excellent understanding of different network media types and connectors.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex network diagrams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with multiple suppliers and providing technical guidance as necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Willingness to travel overseas occasionally.
  • Must possess a valid passport with no travel restrictions.
