About this role

Contentious Probate Solicitor - Leading Thames Valley Law Firm
Location: Reading, Henley-on-Thames, or Wokingham
PQE: Minimum 5 years

A well-established Thames Valley law firm is seeking a solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE to join its growing and highly recommended Contentious Probate team, which sits within the firm's Dispute Resolution department. This team is recognised in both The Legal 500 and Chambers UK Guide.

The successful candidate will focus on contentious probate matters and support the team as needed.

The firm recently welcomed a highly experienced professional in April 2024, who has over 25 years' experience in handling the full remit of contentious probate claims for charities and private clients. This professional now leads the Contentious Probate team, consisting of a partner, two solicitors, and a trainee solicitor. Due to the increasing demand and growth of this area of practice, two new vacancies have arisen within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing an agreed caseload of contentious probate matters in conjunction with the two partners heading up the Contentious Probate and Dispute Resolution teams.

  • Handling client cases efficiently and cost-effectively while maintaining the highest professional standards.

  • Providing exceptional client care and ensuring clients are fully informed of available services.

  • Supervising members of the team, particularly trainee solicitors, as needed.

  • Managing telephone and email enquiries professionally and effectively.

  • Supporting business development and networking initiatives to contribute to the firm's growth.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds at least a 2:1 degree.

  • Has a minimum of 5 years' PQE.

  • Holds an ACTAPS qualification (preferred).

  • Is enthusiastic, hardworking, and committed to excellence.

  • Possesses strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Has experience in business development and networking.

  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team and shares the firm's values of excellence, integrity, and approachability.

Why Join?

  • Work with a highly respected and growing team in a top-tier firm.

  • Benefit from a supportive and collaborative working environment.

  • Engage in high-quality, complex contentious probate matters.

  • Develop expertise under the guidance of renowned professionals.

  • Be part of a culture that values integrity, client care, and professional development.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor to take the next step in their career and contribute to the success of a thriving department.
